Little laundry helper

Tigger has, in the past, enjoyed playing with the open washing machine, and was a little put out to find the cover closed.

The bird might be gone...

I swear I was unable to kill the bird with the powerwasher, and I have seen no evidence that Tigger got even one feather...however, it has been very peaceful on the deck today. I did hear what might have been the catbird we were hating, but it never came near the deck or the cat or the windows, so maybe we can put the powerwasher away, and live and let live.

So it is a not a mockingbird we have to kill

Joan has verified that the bird is a catbird, but no amount of research thus far has offered any means by which to get rid of said catbird. Powerwasher can be fun, but clearly ineffective. Tigger keeps watch so long as I am out there, but when the bird swoops, she runs inside. It is not even so much that I worry about the poor cat, it is the awful awful squawking the freaking bird makes (it never stops). I am going to try putting up mylar balloons around the deck to see if the bobbing shiny things will work (they do work for wood peckers). If they work it will surely be less upsetting than having bird guts all over the place.

To kill a mockingbird?

It is hard to see it, but on the fence is a gray bird, either a mockingbird or a catbird (according to Joan who needs to clear this up when she sees this picture). Anyway, this bird has been taunting our Tigger and annoying the sh-t out of me. Yesterday, I spent some time outside working and holding the gun to the power washer, hoping to blow the bird to blithereens, but it didn't seem to work. So today Tigger spent the day inside with the air conditioning on, just to give us both a break from the freaking bird. I know I read the book (To Kill a Mockingbird) and saw the movie, but my memory being what it is, I have no recollection if there was an actual mockinbird murder, or if it was a metaphor.
